I re-worked some of the template. Final product will be a little larger than the previous models, and made out of cardboard.

Professor gave me an idea, but I'll see if I want to go with that or not. I'll leave that for the crit ...

So I used the copy that I had printed out already to trace an outline onto cardboard. WOrking with the cardboard was very different than working with paper. Instead of trying to make everything connect and fold here and fold there, it was easier to cut single pieces and inserted small holes to connect them together. I also used hot glue as well to secure the pieces and make it stronger.

I also used the hot glue to drawn in the face and details of the Lion. No reason why, just messing around with the materials.

I used acrylic paints to color in the Lion/Chair

This is the original paper cut out that I used. I used a few strips of cardboard to support this piece.

I plan to have multiple copies, almost as a series, for the final product. Showing different ways you could create and decorate this piece. This is something that can vary from person to person. There will be no set directions as to how the chair is decorated.

Lion Chair Continued

This is the general lay out of the body of the Lion (back, seat, and front legs of the chair).
This is the general lay out of the back legs of the Lion (back legs of the chair and underneath).

This what the final product will potentially look like.

All this was done in Illustrator, then I printed it out. And of course while I was cutting out the first copy to see if everything would align properly and all, my computer logged me out and I lost everything. But I have printed a 2nd copy, so I'm hoping to scan that into the computer and "Live Trace & Expand" to my points and paths back.

Update...

For some reason I can't upload the pdf file for my Illustrator progress... But I've gone with the chair idea, as a Lion template. I have partialy mini cut-out for today. From working on this mini version, I had made some alterations to the template. Trial and Error.
